Emmanuelle Vallat is a sophrologist midwife. She trained as a midwife at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 2005. Her first work practise was in French hospitals (maternity wing, labour and at-risk pregnancies), which was followed by independent midwifery (ante-natal, birth preparation, rehabilitation of the perineum). She then worked in London in 2008-2009 as an independent midwife in collaboration with an English midwife. They ensured the support of home pregnancy (pregnancy care, home deliveries and postnatal follow-up). From 2009 to 2012 she lived in New Caledonia where she worked in a private clinic and also in dispensaries in remote and isolated locations. During her own pregnancies she discovered the importance of physical ans mental preparation for childbirth, and learnt the techniques of sophrology (or better known as relaxation therapy) as a patient. Then, she decided to train as an analytical and behavioural therapist and qualified in 2011 (Faculté Européenne de Sophrologie Analytique et Comportementale de Nouméa). This means that she can offer a wider support programme for birth preparations. On returning to the UK in 2012/2013 with her three children, and registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council UK, she decided to work as an independent midwife in London. Emmanuelle provides antenatal care, birth preparation with sophrology, postnatal care and as she has recently finalized her studies on perineum, she proposes the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor. Emmanuelle’s skills and experience are available to women and couples, with full respect of their choices, and attention to their wishes.
