Adult Physiotherapy and Baby Chest Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps to find out why you have trouble with any aspect of body movement. Physiotherapy can help you avoid surgery, reduce your medication, manage your pain and reduce the risk of injury. The physiotherapist will explore the patient current abilities and functional needs in order to plan treatments that are consistent with the patient’s goals and general health status, and which incorporate approaches and techniques supported by the best evidence available.
What is baby Chest Physiotherapy?
The aim of baby chest physiotherapy is to clean the baby’s lungs and upper airways from the mucus restricting normal breathing, sleep pattern and eating.
The session starts with a conversation with the parents to determine the frequency of a cough and how the baby is sleeping and eating. After the conversation, the physiotherapist listens to the baby’s lungs with a stethoscope. This will allow finding the location, the amount and the density of the mucus (whether it is thick or fluid). With all this information, the physiotherapist will be able to make a diagnosis and to decide the rhythm, the frequency and the intensity of the massage.
The physiotherapist will start by cleaning the congested nose of the baby with a saline solution and a small nose pump. While doing this, he will explain to you how to do it yourself, because you will have to repeat it several times during the day.
